I was talking on the phone with Rachel when the subject of unnecessary panic in the work place came up. She described these people as "Panic Monkeys". I usually refer to them by the longer moniker "Oh My God Chicken Little! The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!"
We agree that these people must enjoy stress and panic since they go out of their way to increase it. Especially since most of these *a-hem* "situations" could be solved easily. For example saying "Hey, guys? Don't do that anymore, OK?"
But Nooooooooo everything has to be blown out of proportion and include lots of hand waving and meetings. The usual solution involves adding an extra step or changing protocol through out the company, making everything more complicated and convoluted and prone to future issues.
