Unbelievable!

I was surprised when I discovered how many of the people I work with had never heard of Burning Man. I guessed that it was just well known in the circles I run in. Maybe it wasn't as well known in the "straight" world.

But this week, I found out that most of them had never seen Blues Brothers! What the hell, man? How is that possible? I couldn't believe it. I can't believe it.

Those of us over the age of 30 stressed how classic the movie is. How all those folks who had never seen it, must do so ASAP.

I even went as far as saying that it ranks right up there with Gone with the Wind and Citizen Kane.

Yeah. Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane and Blues Brothers.

I am a sick little puppy.

Yeah, an online friend in LJ who works at a hospital was sharing how MORE THAN ONE of his coworkers had never heard of Jimmy Buffet.

Or the time I was talking to a recent high school graduate (this was in 2004, so, 22-23 years old by now) who hadn't heard of Johnny Cash. I attempted to explain, "They did a movie about him? Walk the Line? And right before he died he did a cover of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" that was really good and played on MTV a lot?"

And she had never heard of Nine Inch Nails either.

Buh?
