Sick of this shit...
Sep. 2nd, 2009 01:03 pmYesterday I made the decision and talked about it with Hubby. Today I am putting it out there on the interwebs.
I will no longer be working at this job and will be working at a business that I am responsible for (Sole owner or partial owner) by the time I am 40.
My first step today was to contact a man who is selling a bar and is offering financing.

Date: 2009-09-02 11:57 pm (UTC)Personally, I just keep thinking about most of the "locals" bars that I know. They don't make me want to spend hours and hours in them.

Date: 2009-09-04 12:02 am (UTC)Of course, as someone who started his first batch of mead nearly five years ago (and his first beer perhaps two months later), my main concern would be seeing what, besides multiplying my recipes by X, needed to change. I don't recall if you've done any brewing at all.
Also, I believe there would be a few more licensing hurdles to jump through. I don't know the details, though; the last time I looked was after I received a layoff notice, and I merely confirmed that I couldn't afford it, even with the corporate severance package.
Very good points!
Date: 2009-09-04 12:54 am (UTC)I am starting off with a "turnkey" bar. I will only be interested in those in areas with transferable licensing. Once a license is established, it is far easier to renew then to try and get one new. (Hey! I've done some research!)
I will take what is there and slowly change it into what I want. Which is a bar that specializes in beer and whiskey.
Strangely enough, we are also planning on setting up a hive this spring with the plan to trade some of the honey and brewing some into mead.

Date: 2009-09-04 01:05 am (UTC)If you like, when the time is right, poke me and I'll share my then-current thoughts on the best in mead-making. (Every now and then, I'm learning something so profound that it'll rearrange everything; it's possible I'll have another one before you're ready to get started.)
Wonderful!!!!

EXCELLENT!
